The Art of FACEBOOK ENGAGEMENT

Aug 26, 2015

Whenever you are closely working to make Facebook successful for any business, we all focus first on growing the fan base, and that is the most important first step.
But once you have a decent fan base, driving engagement (likes, clicks and shares)
Also becomes vitally important.

First, remember that when you post content only a small percentage of your fan base will see the post in you’re their newsfeed. Hence, the need for boosted posts.
Another way for Facebook to make more money ☺ but if you are going to be successful on Facebook, boosted posts are a must. For as low as $5 you can dramatically increase your reach – a much greater percent of your audience will see the content in your post.

But before you add boosted dollars, you want to make sure you are posting something interesting that your audience will naturally engage with or something that tugs at the heart or the funny bone to increase those likes, comments and shares.

Let’s look at a few examples:

First, if you are reaching people who are truly interested in your product or the lifestyle it reflects (geo, demo and lifestyle targeting – but that is another important topic) than showing that product in it’s best light will naturally garner engagement.

Let’s take an RV for example. RVers love to see products inside and out and as they love to compare products before purchase and love to compare their choice to similar products… so show them the product by using an album – a series of pictures, not just one outside photo.

Organic Reach
Note this post was not boosted, so the reach (6000+ ), the likes (361) and the shares (51) were all organic. Proof that if you have carefully cultivated your fans, they are interested in your product and they will engage! Plus, if you know social media, you know how important those shares are – growing your reach for free!
Finally, people love a good chuckle, especially when it is related to an interest. Along with almost 900 likes and 78 shares the reach was almost 18K!

Boosted Reach
This is an example of a boosted post, and tugging at the heart with a post related to the RV lifestyle. Reach over 6K, 321 likes and 80 shares (note the yellow is organic reach from the shares and the orange was the boosted – paid reach – the power of good content and a little boost!  And the comments, priceless!

Finally, people love a good chuckle, especially when it is related to an interest. Along with almost 900 likes and 78 shares the reach was almost 18K!
